A Telepathic Ray Gun?

A Telepathic Ray Gun?

Clark Anderson

What if a army had a ray gun that caused the victim to experience artificial fever and sickness? What if that gun had the ability to beam voices into the opponents head? It seems this would be a valuable tool on the battle field, and a recently declassified U.S. Army reports that our military had similar feelings. The report detailed "maturing non-lethal technologies" for the purpose of crowd control and other applications using microwaves, lasers and sound.

Of the many technologies in the report were conceptual only, like the one sends out a electromagnetic pulse that causes seizures. Or the one that uses close range microwave that "produces audible sounds in a person's ears". Strangely enough, this "telepathic" weapon has gone past the pure conceptual level and has been successfully testing in a lab using volunteers. This is a development of an earlier design which would "raise the auditory sensation to the "discomfort" level, deterring personnel from entering a protected perimeter or, if necessary, temporarily incapacitating particular individuals."

The article from New Scientist Tech explains further reseach and development as well as the moral and health issues these weapons may possess.

The epileptic seizure inducing device is grossly irresponsible and should never be fielded," says Steve Wright "We know from similar [chemically] artificially-induced fits that the victim subsequently remains "potentiated" and may spontaneously suffer epileptic fits again after the initial attack.
